The interesting history of the splendid building that houses Hotel L'Orto Degli Angeli includes the purchase of the building in the 18th entury by a Roman family. The house was an elegant 17th century palace overlooking the remains of a Roman temple and theatre (1st century AD) on which people had built small houses in the 14th century. The man in charge of the restoration had the inspired idea of adding a hanging garden amid the age-old stones. The descendents of the original owners now welcome guests to this historical Garden of Angels. The main gate into Bevagna (Porta Foligno) leads to the main street of the town (Corso Matteotti) which follows the path of the ancient Via Flaminia. After about 100 metres on the right there is a charming little square with Palazzo Andreozzi on one side, where the main entrance to L’Orto degli Angeli is, and on the other side Palazzo Alberti, with the wonderful 15th-century loggia. Between the two buildings a peculiar hanging path connects the wistaria-laden terrace to the precious garden. A grand staircase, with a wooden statue of S. Lorenzo dating back to the 14th century, leads you into the frescoed drawing room of Palazzo Andreozzi, a place where guests can relax by the the large stone fireplace. In the elegant 18th-century Palazzo Andreozzi there are nine stylishly decorated rooms, named after the Angels portrayed in the exquisite frescoes to recall the family name. The beautifully restored Palazzo Alberti features five unique apartments where Roman remains stand out from later architectural structures. The apartments are typical examples of medieval architecture and their names, in early Italian, reflect their individual character. All the rooms have full bathrooms and are spacious and luxurious. Enjoy dinner at the restaurant Redibis, which offers friendly service in an elegant dining room, and serves regional cuisine. You may enjoy the extensive breakfast in your own room or in the dining room. The L'Orto Degli Angeli has been featured in several magaines, including Town and Country, Meridiani, Viaggi and Sapori.

In less than 30 minutes you can reach Perugia, Torgiano, Deruta, Assisi and Spoleto.Spello, Foligno, Trevi, Montefalco and Bettona are all in a 10-kilometre radius. Rome and Siena in about 90 minutes and Florence in about two hours.
