The Relais encompasses almost all of the little houses that make up an old Umbrian hamlet. The main part of the Relais still has much of the structure of the Castello di Poggio, with typically Umbrian stonework, enormous milling grindstone and press, arches and terracotta floors. The rooms are uniquely decorated in English Country style, some with wrought iron balconies and terraces, and with coordinated draperies, lamps and upholstery. The designers of the Relais have incorporated many of the small houses in the hamlet with the Castle providing 35 double rooms and 3 suites in the main building. There are also 16 Country Suites in a separate, newer stone building. These well-equipped suites are perfect for couples or families, having a spacious sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, and patio and all built around a large swimming pool (there are no cooking facilities in the suites). They each have their own private entrance -- and are connected to the hamlet of Canalicchio by a wooden bridge. There is a separate swimming pool for guests of the main building, a gym and sauna, a billiard room and a wonderfully welcoming sitting area with a huge fireplace. The restaurant Il Pavone offers fine dining in a very pretty setting -- in summer months the terrace is lit by candles and is one of the most romantic places imaginable, with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. The Relais also has a wellness centre, complete with hydromassage treatments, turkish bath, sauna, gym, sunroom, massage facilities and relaxing corner with tea room.
