There is a 20% non-refundable deposit (of the whole value of the booking) required at the time of booking. No further charges are made until you arrive. La Villa is set in the Piedmont (Piemonte) region, home of many of Italy's finest wines including Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and Moscato. The closest airports are Turin, Milan and Genoa (about one hour away). Wine tours can begin from within 5 minutes of the hotel, where you can also enjoy one of Italy's most renowned grappa manufacturers - Berta. La Villa is a 17th Century palazzo, which sits high on a hill amongst the beautiful rolling Monferrato countryside, surrounded by vineyards. It has superb views in every direction, framed by the Alps over 100 kilometres away. The church spires and hilltop villages can be seen on the surrounding hills and the church bells compete for the attention of the cyclists and walkers as they explore the magnificent countryside. The hotel offers a wide range of facilities including a large restaurant, sizable reception area with breakfast room, guest lounge and bar (where there is an open fire for the cooler winter evenings). There is a sala degustazione (wine tasting room), which has a regular temperature all year round and where samplings of the famous Piemontese wines are offered. Outside, there are landscaped gardens, roof terrace and lots of independent sitting areas, plus a swimming pool which allows guests to look the length of the valley towards the mountains, whilst keeping cool. All of the fourteen guestrooms rooms are air conditioned and have their own private bathroom. The rooms are eclectic in style, from the exotic Moroccan room to the refined French Quarter and the rustic Italian style rooms with their lustrous woods and wrought iron furnishings. Many of the rooms have private balconies or terraces where guests can relax or you can use one of the barbeques for a relaxed al fresco meal. The amenities in the rooms include satellite TV, DVD and CD player (on request), telephone, and internet. The restaurant, La Vie, opens each year around the end of April and closes for the winter in mid-November. The restaurant re-opened this year at the end of April. Light lunches and simple evening meals made from the freshest ingredients are available. The hotel also tries to have a BBQ or outdoor buffet at least once a week. Cooking Courses, a Cooking, Eating and Wine Experience Programme in November and Truffle Extravaganzas throughout October and November are also available.

No additional charge for children under 12. La Villa only accepts children over the age of 8.

Notes The area is also well known for horse riding, cycling and walking and, within a reasonable distance there are golf, shooting and fishing. Piedmont is a wine lover's paradise. It produces more quality wine than any other region in Italy, and has a host of different types of wine often unheard of outside Italy. The Piedmont area is known throughout the world for its truffles - especially the white truffle.
