In a little known corner of Italy, once part of Magna Graecia, rich in history and architecture and blessed with a tradition of fine cuisine, you will find Il Melograno. A 17th century "Masseria" or fortified farmhouse built originally as a defence against Saracen and Byzantine invaders, is now a luxurious five star Relais & Chateaux hotel, nestled in a sea of olive trees bent by breezes from the Adriatic and gnarled by the passing centuries. Each of the thirty one rooms and six suites nestled around the central piazza has been individually furnished with antiques under the care of the owner Camillo Guerra, an art and antique dealer. All of the rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with satellite TV, security safe and mini bar and some have an individual patio and jacuzzi. There is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool. There are two restaurants at Il Melograno, Ristorante Il Melograno specialises in the Apulian version of the much acclaimed Mediterranean cuisine. Puglia is renowned for its vast variety of dishes based on local vegetables and hand made pastas unique to the region. The olive oil is pressed from olives grown on the estate, and many of the seasonable vegetables come from the hotel garden. Ristorante Il Trappeto (open from mid October to mid June) is located in a spectacular 12th century cave, it features local rustic cuisine in a warm casual atmosphere (Trappeto is local dialect for an olive mill.)

Il Peschereccio "la Madonna della Madia" is a 50 foot traditional fishing vessel that has been refurbished and equipped for day trips on the Adriatic coast around Monopoli. Weather permitting it can be chartered in the summer months.

If a reservation is 3 days or more and cancelled 7 days or less prior to arrival, 30% of the total reservation will be charged by the hotel. In case of no show, the same rules as above apply. In case of early departure from the hotel, the remainder of the stay will be charged. A 15 euro administrative cancellation fee per room booked will be charged by Inns en Route Inc. on all confirmed reservations that are subsequently cancelled.
