In the 16th century Villa Le Barone was the home of the famous Tuscan family Della Robbia and now this wonderful property is a quiet, small hotel with a variety of room styles. Situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico country, it is ideally located for trips around Tuscany. There are lovely views from most rooms (some in the original Villa, some in a pretty annex building and other small houses containing one or two suites and family suites) and all rooms are ensuite. There are antiques everywhere and the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. There is a swimming pool and tennis court in the large grounds (filled with olive trees and vines) and a delightful restaurant in the original wine cellar which serves typically Tuscan cuisine. Breakfast is served in the Villa or on the terrace outside when the weather is fine. The multi-lingual staff are particularly helpful. Please note that not all rooms have air conditioning.

Cots are free for babies up to 2 years old. 3rd bed for children up to 12 years old is 80 euros/night.

There is excellent walking in the area, and a pleasant 1 km walk from the hotel to Panzano. Horse riding in the vicinity (20 minutes) as well as Ugolino Golf (19km). It is possible to take a bus to Florence from Panzano (1 hour) Visits to wineries nearby and tastings of Chianti Classico organized at the hotel. Guided tours to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano and Volterra are also organized along with painting courses and cooking lessons.
