The Sirenuse was originally opened in 1951 as a small hotel. Prior to this it was the summer house of a noble Neapolitan family, the Marchesi Sersale, and it is still owned by descendents of this family. The nucleus of this old patrician house is the Presidential Suite, the drawing room and the bar. New rooms and suites have been arranged around this nucleus over the years and it is now a wonderfully luxurious small hotel that is world-renowned. Most rooms have their own balcony or terrace overlooking the blue sea and the Island of the Sirens and each is beautifully decorated in a subtle, comfortable style with antiques collected over the years by the family. Plants, flowers, tiles, white walls and big windows give the hotel a wonderfully bright and natural feeling, and at night the dining room is lit entirely by candles for a romantic atmosphere. From the terrace, or the swimming pool the town of Positano and the harbour are breathtaking. The hotel's Aveda spa has the latest technology and is truly luxurious. Positano is a spectacularly beautiful town, rising from the sea to the mountains, with colourful small houses and pedestrian streets winding across the hillside. Parking is available at the hotel for about 35 euros/day. Please note that the restaurant is closed from December 1 to February 28, but there are restaurants in the town.
