Country Hotel: LuxuryThis is one of Cortona's most elegant residences, just a 3 minute walk to the very heart of the town (where Under the Tuscan Sun was filmed), it is a perfect place to stay while expoloring this medieval village surrounded by the gentle hills of Valdichiana. Many of the rooms enjoy a landscape of Valdichiana, with the Amiata and Cetona mountain, the Trasimeno Lake and the hills surrounding the city-walls. The ambience of the hotel is that of a private residence, with a comfortable feel, warm, with attention to detail and relaxing. The hotel has gracious entrance rooms and lounges, with fireplace, and a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with spacious modern bathrooms. The hotel itself sits on land that was once the Chiesa della Madonna degli Alemanni which contained many wonderful artworks now seen in the Museum in Cortona. In 1786, the church was demolished as it was too small for its congregation and a gentleman's house was built (Villa Marsili) We were very impressed with the professionalism, helpfulness and warmth of the staff and with the old-fashioned but delightful touches often not found in more modern hotels. What's New?
Villa La Borghetta was a watchtower in the 14th century and it is now a delightful hotel with eighteen elegant guestrooms. The location is 32 km. from Tuscany, in the hills, and with lovely views.
Agroturismo Il Melograno is located in the soft rolling hills of southern Marche. The Agriturismo has five guestrooms (four double and one single) all skilfully restored while retaining many of the original features and character of a listed building built in the 18th century.
